1. Objectives and Scope
The journal Temporalities and societies is an interdisciplinary journal of human and social sciences dedicated to publishing theoretical and empirical research on organizational dynamics, governance systems, crises, and changes in contemporary societies. The works published by the journal come from horizons and articulate temporalities and social changes at the local, national, and global levels. Moreover, they demonstrate theoretical and methodological rigor and have the potential to advance scientific knowledge on the subject treated.
2. Publication Policies
2.1 Editorial definition
Title: Temporalités et sociétés

2.2 Submission
The journal constantly receives articles based on theoretical and empirical research, which can be used for thematic issues. However, the journal's thematic issues usually consist of articles received in response to the call for papers made public at least nine months before the date of publication of the issue. The journal also welcomes thematic issues organized and submitted by one or more researchers. With the exception of book reviews that are subject to the Book Review Protocol, all articles submitted to the journal must follow the Guidelines for Authors. In addition, it is recommended that you follow the items in the Submission Checklist.
To submit a manuscript, the author must create an account on the journal's website: temporalites.charesso.org. All manuscripts must be submitted electronically from the author's account. Manuscripts must be sent as Word documents (.doc or .docx). Tables, graphs and figures, photos, etc., must be attached separately as additional documents. Image files must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Always indicate where to insert them in the manuscript.
2.2 Peer-review Process
The peer-review process is double-blind. Each manuscript is subject to an initial check of the journal's formal and substantive requirements upon receipt. It is then submitted to two external peer-reviewers chosen for their expertise on the studied topic. The manuscript is reviewed according to the criteria related to the topic's relevance, originality, theoretical and methodological rigor, consistency, linguistic quality, and bibliographic relevance. The editor-in-chief and the editorial board consider peer reviewers' recommendations in making an editorial decision which the journal communicates to the author as soon as possible. Appendix 1 illustrates the peer review process.
The editor-in-chief and the editorial board evaluate proposed thematic issues for their quality, originality, and relevance. In addition, they work with the editor of the issue to ensure the follow-up of the editorial process of the articles within it.
2.3 Plagiarism Detection Policy
The journal encourages peer reviewers to inform the editor-in-chief of any suspected plagiarism. In addition, articles accepted for publication are scanned by anti-plagiarism software that compares its content to more than 70 billion Internet sources and 69 million academic publications. This confidential and secure service is provided by Scribbr. Plagiarism cases are dealt with following COPE's guidelines on plagiarism.

2.5 Dissemination Policy
The journal is distributed online in open access. The authors retain all reproduction rights on the sole condition of mentioning the bibliographic information of the article's first publication.
3. Ethical obligations and responsibilities
The journal's success depends on quality collaboration between the editor-in-chief, editorial board, peer-reviewers, and authors. For this collaboration to be possible, everyone must recognize and assume their responsibilities.
3.1 Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
The editorial board operates according to the COPE Guidelines on Best Practices for Journal Publishers. The editorial board is responsible for ensuring that articles submitted for publication align with the scientific objectives and scope of the journal. To achieve that, each member must answer to call to evaluate the relevance of the papers submitted to the journal. It must also actively participate in selecting qualified evaluators to ensure the quality of the peer-review process. The editorial board is continuously involved in evaluating the journal and its inclusion in specialized databases.
The editorial board's work is guided by the following principles: punctuality, impartiality, confidentiality, editorial quality, and ethics of scholarly publication.
3.1.1 Punctuality
The journal is committed to respecting its publication schedule. In this sense, the editorial board is responsible for processing the submissions received as soon as possible and does its best to respect the editorial schedule while following the editorial workflow.
3.1.2 Impartiality
The Editorial Board and the Scientific Committee are impartial entities. Beyond the epistemological, methodological, theoretical, and ideological preferences of their members, their main priorities are to guarantee the journal's proper functioning and scientific quality. In this sense, their members must show respect for the intellectual and academic independence of the authors.
3.1.3 Editorial confidentiality
Manuscripts and information about them should be used strictly as part of the editorial process. That means that the editor-in-chief and the editorial board members have a responsibility to ensure confidentiality throughout and beyond the editorial process. Submitted articles will only be shared with peer-reviewers after agreeing to participate in the review process. The identity of the authors shall not be revealed to the peer reviewers. Peer-review reports sent by peer reviewers will be shared only with authors and on condition of anonymity.
However, personal information about submitted articles may be revealed if necessary to assess an ethical violation, such as plagiarism, double publication, or multiple submission.
3.1.4 Editorial quality
The Editorial Board shall work to ensure the editorial quality of the journal following the COPE Guidelines on Best Practices for Journal Publishers. In this sense, it must, in particular:
- Carefully apply the elements of the journal's publication policies;
- Establish quality collaboration with authors, peer reviewers, and readers to improve journal practices and processes;
- Ensure that two contributions from the same author are not part of the same issue of the journal.
3.2. Duty and responsibilities of peer reviewers
Peer reviewers are experienced researchers recognized for their seriousness and scientific merit. Therefore, their reviews must be objective, punctual, and confidential. This allows them to contribute to the foundations of editorial decisions concerning the journal.
3.2.1 Objectivity
Peer reviewers must be objective in evaluating the articles entrusted to them. They must base their evaluations on objective criteria relating to the relevance of the subject addressed, originality, theoretical and methodological rigor, consistency, linguistic quality, and bibliographic relevance. In addition, criticism directed at articles under review must be rigorously supported.
3.2.2 Punctuality
Punctuality on the part of peer reviewers is essential to the smooth running and success of the editorial process. When reviewers are invited to participate in reviewing papers, the journal gives them one week to accept or decline the invitation. Upon acceptance, reviewers have six weeks to evaluate the paper and submit their recommendations. If they need more time, they can negotiate that with the editor-in-chief.
3.2.3 Confidentiality
Reviewers should only use information about articles for any purpose other than the rigorous evaluation of the article.
3.3 Obligation and responsibilities of authors
3.3.1 Originality
The journal Temporalities and societies publishes original articles. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts meet the criteria for originality. By submitting an article for publication to the journal, the author guarantees that it is their own work that he has completed himself, that there is no plagiarism or self-plagiarism, and that the submitted article has not been submitted in whole or in part to another journal or previously published in any form or medium that so be it. In the case of an article already published, the manuscript must be accompanied by the written authorization of the publisher of the originator publication. The authors assume full responsibility for the full content of their articles.
3.3.2 Rigour andintellectual probity
The journal subscribes to the ethical standards of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and encourages authors to promote scientific integrity and research ethics. Before submitting an article for publication to the journal, the author must verify that all sources used in the article are appropriately credited. Self-citations should be credited in the third person not to allow peer reviewers to identify the article's author.
Authors must also demonstrate professionalism and integrity in handling comments and suggestions from peer reviewers and the editor-in-chief. Any unprofessional behavior (such as negligence, belligerence, refusal to correct) likely to harm the editorial process or the scientific quality of the journal will lead to the rejection of the article.
3.3.3 Punctuality
Authors must respect the timetables and deadlines agreed with the journal. That applies to submissions, the revision process, and proofreading. In case of disagreement with a timeline or deadline, the author may discuss or negotiate with the editor-in-chief to reach an agreement.
