The university in Haiti and its mission to serve the community

All over the world, initiatives are beingundertaken and researchisincreasinglybeingconducted to establish a close linkbetween the university and social responsibility. Indeed, itisgenerallyacceptedthat one of the most noble missions of the universityis to serve the community, especially the mostunderprivileged segments of thatcommunity. However, in Haiti, very few studies are devoted to this issue. In this article, usingdocumentaryresearch and ourfieldexperiences, we set out to question the relationshipbetweenuniversity and social responsibility in Haiti, focusingspecifically on the case of the Université d'État (UEH) and the network of regional public universities (UPR).
